James Beard Award-winning chef, Jeff Michaud, comes to L.A. from Philly to cook a one night-only dinner at Animal as part of Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo’s dinner series, Cooking With Friends. The family-style dinner will highlight seven recipes, handpicked by Vinny and Jon from the pages of Jeff’s first-ever cookbook, Eating Italy. Jeff is a partner of the celebrated Vetri Family of Restaurants, and is the chef/co-owner of the critically acclaimed restaurants, Osteria, Amis and Alla Spina.
Eating Italy chronicles the three years Jeff spent in Northern Italy as a culinary apprentice to master butchers and chefs. Besides featuring great recipes, the book is also part travel guide and true love story. (Jeff met his beloved wife, Claudia, when she came into the restaurant he was working at one night for dinner—to this day he still remembers what she ordered.)
Longtime friends of Vinny and Jon’s—the chefs met volunteering their time for the charity, Alex’s Lemonade Stand—Jeff’s excited to take over Animal’s kitchen and to feed Angelenos the soulful, creative fare that’s inspired his life and career.
